I've encountered variations on the theme of "you have to give us personal information before we sell anything to you".

My response: No - You don't justifiably need that and if you insist, no problem and no sale. I'll leave never to return.

Enough of this response for the sale of (if you will) sundry items and that policy will go away.

Personally, even being asked for my zip code annoys me.

No.

What I am is one not willing to be manipulated.

Sell me the item/items without attempting to make me jump thru hoops and they'll be no problem.

At one time Radioshack would demand your address and phone number for the purchase of any goods and if you refused they'd go into a song and dance about how they had to have this info. Yeah, sure...

Just say no and be willing to walk if they insist.
