I wonder exactly how they could check your chemical dependency/Psych history. Unless you were committed, or went to a state/county facility..how could they know. Hospital privacy laws would apply here.

DPS examines your local/federal criminal history; along with your state tax records, child support history (if applicable, for any arrearage), chemical dependency/psychiatric history (if applicable), and student loan history (for any defaulted loans). I'm leaving something else out, I'm sure...

It's a pretty thorough investigation (much more methodical than an FFL check for a gun transfer), but your CHL is worth the wait.

I know it's tough, but remain positive. My packet only took about a month for DPS to process, which is much quicker than years gone by. Some "older" members report waiting periods in excess of 90 days :shock: for their original licenses. DPS has definitely become more efficient.
