So from a newbies perspective....


Just bought my first pistol ever (I've shot plenty but never owned). It's an XD .40 subcompact. I cycled the slide without any issues as soon as I got home to make sure the chamber was clear. After reading the manual more later I realized that the grip safety had to be pressed when cycling. Of course it wasn't a problem when I did it earlier since that was the natural thing to do.... Not sure why it would be an issue. Really in use the grip safety is like it's not even there.
