Time for some formal training

I have been shooting for several years and my wife for a few months but she is catching up quickly. We have both have a few hours of training here and there but we are ready to for a longer 1, 2 or 3 day class.

The CHL covered the legal side so we are looking for self defense basics and a primer for more advance team tactics and home defense type of training.

With limited time and money, we are looking for the most bang for our buck and quickly getting up to speed. The options I have run across are local NRA classes, local instructors (some who post on this board), or save up for a slot at one of the big name shooting schools like Thunder Ranch, Gunsite etc.

A quick search locally shows a couple of options.

Gregg Garrett this weekend but we can’t make it and Hoffners, we missed the Aug1 Basic Pistol Class.
I have not been able to find much info on local instructor class schedules. Are they usually individual or class settings?

We are in the Houston area and traveling is not out of the question but local is easier to manage.
Any suggestions?
