In the past I think I remember that Apple said they could not unlock customers' iPhones if they are encrypted and use a passcode. Who knows what their real capabilities are and whether or not they provide any assistance either openly or covertly when asked.Flightmare wrote:TreyHouston wrote:Didn’t we already go through this game?Flightmare wrote:https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/20/166 ... s-shooting
Texas Rangers have served Apple with a search warrant for data from deceased Sutherland Springs gunman Devin Patrick Kelley, who killed 26 people in a Texas church earlier this month. The issue is going to be whether they help with unlocking the phone to get data from there.Apple’s policies state that it will share iCloud data with law enforcement agencies if there’s a valid warrant.

this small town’s residents had just learned, mostly by word of mouth, the names of the people slain or wounded at the First Baptist Church, and the horror unleashed by a gunman was too fresh for anyone to process fully. But one thing was emphatically clear Monday: These Texans weren’t about to embrace gun control

Anonymous comment copied from a blog post at another site:
What do we know (in my opinion):
1. Our society is sick.
2. No proposed solution promises to heal it.
3. There are no political solutions to problems created by politics.
If gun prohibitions fixed sick societies, Mexico would be among the most peaceful places on Earth. This alone proves the fundamentally flawed approach of the Left. Adding new prohibitions (on anything) do not improve society because legislated rules only guide the behavior of those predisposed to follow those rules in the first place, and our society’s sickness is illustrated by both those who recognize no moral authority and by the rules that openly destroy moral authority

The FBI played that hand before and after several weeks said "never mind we got into it" after not getting any traction on their desire for decreased personal security of the citizens. The phone used by the gunman who stormed into First Baptist Church on Sunday has been recovered and turned over to the FBI -- but encryption technology is preventing officials from accessing it, authorities said Tuesday.
"Law enforcement, whether it’s at the state, local or federal level, is increasingly not able to get into these phones," he said.

It doesn’t matter whether the signs are there or not if notice has been given that open and concealed carry is prohibited on the premises.1911 Raptor wrote:Now if only the Fort Worth Bishop will follow the Dallas Bishop direction. You can't make this stuff up.In light of this tragic event, Bishop Edward J. Burns has asked that parishes in the Diocese of Dallas consider appropriate safety measures, including the removal of all signs prohibiting the concealed carry of firearms on campus to eliminate any perception that any of our parishes would be an easy target for terror. But let us be clear, the policy of prohibiting the open or concealed possession of firearms at our parishes still stands.
Either way you can’t legally carry there.

Even worse, not one news organization, or sadly anyone in the Republican party, will set the record straight with the truth about Texas gun laws.SQLGeek wrote:Where in the world do they come up with this stuff?Ruark wrote:This gem, from the CNN article above:

Lies, lies, more lies, lie until everyone who hears believes it because all they hear is lies, so the lies must be the truth.

For the most part aren’t people who watch CNN on the left anyway? For sure not a large number of deplorables.Ruark wrote:They're here. Mark Kelly, Gabrielle Gifford's husband, on CNN with Anderson Cooper: "In Texas, you can buy a gun without a background check." Cooper, coward that he is, didn't blink.

Everyone is saying the youngest victim was 18 months old, but that is not true. The youngest victim was being carried by his/her pregnant mother who was killed.
