Having just completed my first year living in the Republic of Texas, and being completely frustrated and dismayed at the federal government, I had high hopes for progress toward Texans' liberty and freedom under the law. Tempered however by the warnings of Charles that the political capital expended in 2015 would result in less pro-gun bills being passed. I have been frustrated because of OCT pushing their agenda so hard and TSRA going along on a doomed to fail bill. I cannot begin to understand the reasoning behind the TSRA's support of unlicensed open carry this session- perhaps there is a strategy being played out.
Charles I apologize for any comments I have made that seemed like attacks on you and our friends in the legislature. If it weren't for your efforts to keep Texas gun owners informed and working for our rights I would not be as knowledgeable about these issues.
Keep up the good fight sir. Your level headedness is a great example to all of us on the forum.

So it sounds like the only method of keeping things going is that if Dem's tag all the Repub's bills, then vice versa happens and no bills advance?

The fix for this mess starts at the local level by all of us engaging our elected officials from now until the next legis session. Additionally, finding viable electable replacements for anyone who is reluctant about freeing Texans from the historical bindings of post-Civil War 1 politics.

I suspect that everybody knew 375/1911 had zero chance of passing, so pretending to support it was a "safe" way to appear pro-2A.

It's unfortunate that people who should have known better spent so much political capital on Constitutional Carry when knowledgeable, experienced people said it had no chance.

I threw a good amount of money at TSRA this session in the belief that they were going to push HB 560. I was proven a fool, there wasn't a single peep from them about it at all.

I agree....if we end up with more restrictions on LTC's and where we are allowed to carry then I will strongly consider not renewing my TSRA membership.
