Re: Sub2k Sub2000 folding concealed rifle
It's comical until a deranged person walks into a location where concealed and open carry of a handgun is prohibited. I'm sure that people who have been in those situations do not find the humor in it. Former Texas state Rep. Suzanna Gratia Hupp who was in the Luby's in Killeen in 1991 probably would disagree with your "comical" assessment.nightmare69 wrote:Also it's much easier to just become a reserve LEO and then 06/07 signs won't apply to you. I wouldn't go as far as carrying a concealed rifle in a briefcase unless I was Jason Bourne. It's comical really.

Re: Sub2k Sub2000 folding concealed rifle
I understand...was just trying to interject some humor. Such as "But officer, I saw the 30.06 sign, but this rifle is 9mm not 30.06."Abraham wrote:bblhd672,
Unfortunately, you aren't going to be the one to make that determination.
While we both appreciate that a rifle is not a handgun, I wouldn't want to test (if discovered) my technical assurance of innocence against some angry LE who upon discovering my rifle in a 30.06 environment can be assumed to be A-OK with it...or recognize I'm in the right.
Yes, ultimately I think carrying a rifle in a handgun verboten area (30.06) is legal, you still might encounter a massive amount of grief before being exonerated...
Or, maybe I'm simply being pessimistic and nothing of consequence would happen upon being discovered carrying a rifle in a 30.06 environment, but I doubt it...

Re: Sub2k Sub2000 folding concealed rifle
To you guys who are carrying Sub2K in a briefcase - what kind of briefcase are you using? I have one that I've had for 20+ years that I used to carry to work everyday, now it just sits in the closet. Just a typical briefcase with two metal clasp/combination locks on it.

Re: Sub2k Sub2000 folding concealed rifle
Just say, "Sorry officer, I was extremely careless. No laws broken here."Abraham wrote:I wonder if some overzealous LE upon discovering you're carrying a concealed rifle while in a 30.06 posted location might treat you the same as if you "were" carrying a handgun arguing while you're not carrying a handgun per se, logic says you're breaking the spirit of 30.06 as it's obvious they don't want visitors carrying firearms into their place of business whether they be handguns or rifles...?
Or, upon looking at the Sub2000 (as an example) argue it "is" a hand gun in their opinion, just a bigger handgun...
Or, nah, this would never be a problem if LE discovered you were carrying a small rifle, thus 30.06 doesn't apply and you can happily carry away...
Frankly, and I hope I'm wrong, but I can see some (not all) LE having a conniption if they discover you're carrying something like a Sub2000 in a 30.06 location.

Seems that company recognizes the issue with the polymer forearm and has this stabilizer available:The Annoyed Man wrote: You have to actually see and handle the MI optic mount. It is as stable as mounting to a polymer forearm will allow it to be. If you attach a metal section of rail to the side of the polymer forend, the optic is still ultimately attached to a polymer forend, and whatever flex is inherent in the polymer forend is still going to affect your accuracy.

I agree the Sub2K is a fun firearm. Whenever I take it out to the range someone usually comments about liking it.

The "Handguard Stabilizer/Side Optic and Laser Mount" looks interesting too. http://www.performanceservicesmachining ... ser-mount/Excaliber wrote:They also have a replacement trigger. The Annoyed Man wrote:I found this: http://www.performanceservicesmachining ... ear-sight/.I am DEFINITELY going to buy this item. The OEM rear sight is way too small for my eyes.Replace the plastic rear sight and aluminum pivot shaft on your Kel Tec Sub 2000 with a precision machined hard anodized aircraft grade aluminum combat peep sight / lever and stainless steel pivot shaft. The larger aperture size speeds target acquisition for close quarters, moving target, and low light shooting. The first and best lever actuated rear sight available as discussed on KTOG (Kel Tec Owners Group Forum). This sight will work in both the Generation 1 and Generation 2 models. This sight will raise automatically when the rifle is unfolded, but can then be lowered and raised again easily.
- Larger .170″ sight aperture as compared to the .125″ original sight aperture.
- The first and best lever actuated rear sight for Kel Tec Sub 2000.
- Compatible with both the Generation 1 and Generation 2 models.
- Simple drop in installation. Instructions included.
- A longer pivot screw for use with a Kel Tec factory sling attachment is included.
What would the impact be on accuracy having a red dot sight mounted on the side rather than on the top? Obviously you'd have to turn the weapon to see through the red dot. Just curious if this is a viable alternative to the red dot mount that swivels out of the way from Midwest Industries?

Re: Sub2k Sub2000 folding concealed rifle
I have shot several full magazines of Hornady American Shooter 9mm +P 124 Gr XTP through my Sub2K with no issues. This is what I keep loaded in all of my Glock mags for use in the Sub2k.Abraham wrote:TAM,
Have you fed your new baby any JHP"s and if so, how well did they perform?
Additionally fired a magazine of Federal HST LE 9mm through it with no issues, as well as different FMJ brands.

Nice, I like the FDE. Below is an add-on I've been looking to add to mineThe Annoyed Man wrote:Bitter Clinger wrote:Time for a pistol caliber carbine outing!!!!
Unbelievable how tiny it is all folded up. It will fit in any briefcase I have without any difficulty, with room left over for my laptop and accoutrements.
