1991A1 Condition 1, safety on

I train draw the firearm and sweep the safety with the finger off the trigger

I pretty much can do it all in one motion now, the safety is no longer a motor skill function..its a reaction

Just like when I was trained in the Marines...I always check the chamber of a firearm...even if I just put it down...when I pick it up its 2nd nature to check it the instant I pick it back up

The trick is to train how you would react in a fight...if you train sloppy, nonchalant, and lackadaisical you will do the same thing in a stressful situation, when you go to the range force yourself to remain focused, force good habits (4 rules of firearm safety) before you get into a stressful situation...practice, practice, practice...because in a stressful situation I would like to say humans rise to the occasion, however the opposite is true..they fall back to their level of training..and training is what will save you or kill you in a firefight
