Re: Response From DPS Regarding Policies When Encountering C

That's a good approach balancing officer safety with community concerns. Our policy says to disarm everyone. If the gun comes back clean and we can verify their credentials, they get the gun back unloaded, and they can reload after they leave the scene. If there's any questions, we can hold onto th...

[tinfoil hat on]
Are we sure they are just checking against NCIC or are they starting a State level firearm database?

Re: Incorrectly displayed, but otherwise legal?

Except that that sentence is from Sec. 30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS. Sec. 30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS. 2) "Notice" means: (A) oral or written communication by the owner or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner; (B) fencing or other enclosure obviously designed to exclude intruders...

Re: No more checking the site for updates!!

My plastic arrived in my mailbox on Wednesday, Oct 24. From mailbox to mailbox, my turnaround time was 34 days. Seemed like forever, though. Thankfully, it didn't take nearly as long as my original did back in 2007.

Re: No more checking the site for updates!!

How often is the CHL website updated? Is it random, or only once or twice a day? If I knew this I'd stop checking as often as I do. Thanks Someone posted up here that it appears to be updated once a day, around 6:30 AM. I'm just ready to be able to carry into my "friendly" neighborhood Wa...

Re: My first 1911

Am I the only one who noticed the poor tolerance of the mag release? If you are referring to the "right side" pic, it could be that the release is slightly inset and the angle/lighting is causing a shadow, making it appear to have poor tolerance. In fact, I just pulled my Kimber out and l...

Re: My first 1911

This pistol will stay in its display case. It is custom ordered number of 68 of 100, state of New Hampshire. Those 100 pistols allocated for State of Texas are all sold out. Maybe it would a BBQ Pistol with custom leather holster that I still have to order. Here is the link to the info about this p...

No more checking the site for updates!!

Status changed to Mailed this morning!! I know it will be about a week before it hits my mailbox, so I won't worry about it yet.

Re: My first 1911

That looks to be a nice 1911, but the photos look photoshoped? The NRA lettering on the top looks too perfect and too pixelated in that photo. I hope my thought is incorrect. Also, why does it say "Proof" in the grip on the left side? Just curious. All that said, while I am the proud owner...

Re: First renewal...

Yesterday I sent a note through the Contact Us form on the website to make sure I included a period of unemployment on my application. Re: employer info

Employment history was on our original apps, and when my wife didn't put down "unemployed" for those times when she had no employer, they sent the app back for more work, ie writing in "unemployed" for those times. Hmm...sounds like I may get a letter about that on my renewal ap...
