IIRC Austin nabbed him from California which helps explain things IMO. Rather than shutting down unpermitted anti-trump protests after the election which blocked downtown streets for multiple days at rush hour, he walked with the crowds and had the police escort the protest etc.

Him leaving isn't going to make Austin any better however, as he will be replaced with someone of equal mentality. I've been wanting to relocate to a more conservative town, but at the same time feel a duty to stay and vote conservative in Austin. Each day that passes it seems to be more and more of a lost cause here in Austin, with no end in sight to government spending and rising taxes.
