Dan20730 asked to post a reply if I happened to try the monarch 38 special and 357 magnum in hollow point respectfully. Well Dan I bought some at academy tried them out. Both of them were pretty accurate good tight grouping out of my Ruger security six and Police
Security Six both in four inch barrels. Must have burned around 250 rounds of each caliber mentioned. Fired into paper at seven, ten and 15 yards there were pretty tight groups were obtained. Fired at some two gallon water jugs and the jugs exploded like their was some hydra shock effect. The bullet went thru the jug with the jug giving off an exploding effect. The exit of the bullet was just slight bigger then the entrance. This was with the 357 magnum hollow point 158 gr. When I shot the 38 special 158 grain their wasnt an explosion if you will just an entrance and an exit. I tried it against the federal 125 grain and boy what a violent reaction to the water jugs. Didnt compare at all. Then I fired remington wally world green and white box 38 special hollowpoint plus p. Their was also some kind of violent reaction with the water jugs not as much as with the 357 magnum federal 125 grain. I tried writing this as objectively as possible to help anyone decide on their own the different effects of the different ammo mentioned. One thing I can tell you I had no misfires with the Monarch ammo. The 357 in Monarch was just about as punchy as the federal that is felt recoil. The difference in the 38 specials the Monarch was a bit wimpy compared to the Remington 125 plus -p.
