Re: Kel-tec Sub2000 9mm gen 2

the bolt closes after the last shot. It's a blow back so even though it's 9mm it will have as much recoil as a .233/5.56 ar15 at least I think so. And it's not even a lot of recoil it's just that the action is happening in the stock

Re: Kel-tec Sub2000 9mm gen 2

Like I said its nothing overt. And I never would of notice until my mom pointed it out to me...Yes she liked guns, nothing makes her more happy then shooting her .357 four inch s&w :fire I just thought I was being too passive at the counter.

Sorry. I feel like I getting off track.

I went to the range today, memorial shooting center, a great place to shoot, to shoot my sub2k put 200 rd of Winchester white box 115grains and 2 boxes of perfecta and 1 box of Remington umc jhp 50 rds, and my 33 rd Glock factory mag, 2 promag 33 rd mags and 2 g17 magpul mags

The gun performed flawless no malfunction at all. I even shot some of the hollow points with no problems.

The only mag I would trust for home defense is the Glock factory mag and the magpul 17 rd mags. The promag while they work with no problems in the gun when I went to unload them by hand the mag follower would get stuck and not come up to next round. Maybe the recoil of the gun cause it to knock loose while I was shooting. But not comfortable with it when dealing with a home defense situation. But did a mag dump with all mags no issues there. Sights are on point. All in all its a keeper

The magazine included with the Sub 2000 is garbage! It's not even heavy enough to fall out when you hit the mag release.

I can't wait to shoot it. I need to clean it first then take to the range hopefully this weekend.

Thanks for the tip on checking Academy!!!
No problem :tiphat: I just don't like it when i see people jacking up the price on something, cause its a little hard to find.
that's the same reason i don't care to support small bushiness, unless they have good deals. Academy may be more expensive or not, on their merchandise, but they are consistent,
like these last couple of months, glocks 9mm were hard to find, and the prices went up everywhere, academy stayed the same when they did have them.
Something to keep in mind...... your small business owners may NOT be jacking up the price simply because the item is hard to find. They have a margin they need to make to stay in business. If you buy Sub 2000s wholesale two at a time, you pay a different price than if you buy them by the boxcar load. When an item is hard to find, both the big box stores and the small businesses pay more wholesale for them, but the big box wholesale is a smaller number, and they tend to operate on thinner margins because that's not all they're selling, and they are selling more of them. Academy can afford a thinner margin on the Sub 2000 they bought because they are also selling shoes, volleyballs, tents, shirts, pants, weight lifting sets, deer corn, feeders, smokers, etc., etc., ad infinitum. The small business gunstore sells a few guns, some ammo, some reloading equipment, and a few gun-related accessories. They can't compete with the big-box stores in ANY market, REGARDLESS of supply and demand economics, because they need a bigger margin to keep the lights on and the rent paid.

So really, you have to decide whether or not you see value in keeping small business owners in business. And by the way, when Cabelas was selling $800 M&P AR15s for $2,000 a few years ago, most of your mom and pop stores didn't mark them up that much because they have to live in the neighborhoods they service.

Sure, I like a deal as much as the next guy, but as a small business owner myself, I see value in the small business community, and in supporting my fellow small business owners whenever possible - because it is healthy for a community to have successful small businesses, and it is NOT healthy for a community to be entirely dependent on big-box stores. That is what happens if you don't support the small businesses in your community......eventually you end up with only big-box options. If I balance the $10-$20 savings on a gun at Academy (where I have purchased a gun before) against the personal attention and service of the small business (where I have purchased more guns than at big-box stores), sometimes the extra price is worth the cost to me.
I have heard this point on view before, I understand that it's not easy to compete with big box stores. But I lose sympathy for small gun shops, when I try to sell a gun back to get something different and they won't even buy it or offer an amount to trade in. This happened to me at a gun shop, I took my like new beretta px4 Storm 40cal to the shop to try and trade it for a Glock 43. The px4 cost me 589 new. The same gun shop had it new for 589 as well. The guy working the counter told me that he wouldn't offer anything cause the gun was a 40cal, and he could get it from the factory for under 200 hundred dollars. The guy wound not take it to make a sale. Now that a huge mark up. And I know that no business want to put out cash, they want it coming in. But when their sign says buy, sell, and trade here well you get some expectations about what should happen.

Now onto that personal attention and service. I am Hispanic and living in Houston for all my life I have never experience racism or prejudice, and I hate to say it, but all these little gun shops that I goto I get that feeling that my business is not wanted. Example I went into a gun store and walked up to the counter and wanted to see a gun so the I waited for the guy who was busy with another customer then another customer and I waited and waited and waited. I was taught not to interupt people when they are talking so I didn't. But to not be acknowledged, well I left. They must not be hurting that bad to be picky about their customers. It's just something I notice about gun shops, nothing overt, but I just feel more comfortable at a big box store.

That was until i walked into academy today. I saw one on the rack, so I asked to see it and was pleased to see it was 9mm.
What pleased me even more was the price, only $430. I bought it right away.

So if your looking for sub2000 9mm gen 2, for under MSRP. try academy.
Ask the sales rep. to look it up for you, they can tell which stores have them.
I called Academy and they don't have it in their system at all, anywhere. Are you sure it was Academy?

He said the only Keltec they have anywhere are pistol accessories.
I know that isn't true. I bought my PMR 30 at Academy. Also saw a KSG at one.

Go to another Academy. He probably spelled Kel Tec wrong.
Yeah. for some reason they don't have them on their website, but i guess for best results go into the store, you know how gun counters can get busy.

okay i just got off the phone with academy, on I10 and bunker hill and they have one I'm thinking about going to pick it up myself, get me another one.
they don't have on the rack because it was on hold for some one due to nic delay.

one more thing the sale person says that all the sub2000s are the glock17 9mm versions they don't sell the 40cal

That why i made the post, they are not as rare as they use to be.I Talked to the sales guys and asked him to look up which stores had them in stock he listed a bunch of stores with 2 to 4 in stock.if the last gun they have is a display model, i would still take it, at least at academy, they don't let customer dry fire.

Re: Kel-tec Sub2000 9mm gen 2

Well the reason that I have been looking for one is my friend has one.
I have taken it to the range a few times.
its fun to shoot, cheaper then an AR. cheaper to shoot, plus with a glock factory 33 rd mag and 17 rd mag, it makes a good home defense weapon.
I would trust it with my life. but yea i want to take it to range. have to wait till Saturday.
