Re: In Process.....
I guess it depends on the definition of "extensive". Other than their claim that they do "extensive" background checks, you have no evidence that they do. My "knowledge" is based on the provable facts that they do not collect enough information to do more than a cursor...

Re: In Process.....
Long time lurker, new member. In regards to the slowness of getting applications out, here is my biggest problem with all this. If you owe the government money, or have a court date for a ticket and don't meet that deadline, they will confiscate your stuff or throw you in jail for missing that dead...

Re: In Process.....
I broke down and called RSD today... I was told that they hadn't gotten my background check back yet and that itself could take up to 60 days. But by law, they have up to 60 days to either issue a new license or request more time. What are the consequences if they fail to abide by the statute? IANA...

Re: "Waiting Room"
I submitted the following to all of the local TV stations for an investigation. Something fishy is going on in Austin ... Investigation team, I am writing regarding my experience with trying to get a license to carry a handgun (LTC) from the state of Texas. I experienced significant delays that ext...

Re: $140.00 Get You A Long Wait Time - Email Governor Abbott
I just got off of the phone with RSD. They have zero clue. There was a correction made to my CHL100 that needed to be initialed. I changed and initialed it and FAXed it to them as they requested. They did not receive it. That is what I learned. If I didn't call to find out I would have been mailed a...

Re: 2016 Application Watch - post your 2016 timelines here
Another day, still no status change, still no plastic. I got some mail from Kentucky and from NJ that was sent out Friday and Monday before I've gotten the supposed plastic coming from San Antonio or Austin (I'm in between both in San Marcos)... I seriously doubt that my license was actually issued...

Re: $140.00 Get You A Long Wait Time - Email Governor Abbott
I understand that technically the budget money is not there for DPS to add staff...BUT: it really is. Think about it this way: The supervisor at DPS (whom the 21 current processors report to), told me that historically they've had about 55,000 applicants in process at any given time (or for a 6-wee...

Re: I thought I would be smart......
I understand, I'm just thinking that we could certainly streamline the process. I can get my FBI and Texas FACT background in a matter of about 3 days for both.DL doesn't require a background check...

This was the plan.GeekwithaGun wrote:Look at it this way, instead of DPS finding the arrests and then asking for the dispositions after you submitted the CHL-100 and application, they now have that and it may not delay the processing. Being proactive is better than reactive (IMHO)

Re: "Waiting Room"
There has to be a way to streamline this. If you file electronically, you would think the system could do the FACT check as it goes through. If your record is clean go to the front of the line. If you are like me, with a spotty childhood record, you need more verification. However, I uploaded certif...

Re: I thought I would be smart......
I figured I would give the DPS a jumpstart on my app as I have an arrest record. I went to the county and got all of the info about my history and paid for certified copies, this was $84.00. I submitted the app, background, and fingerprints about 2 weeks prior to LTC class. Well I have learned ther...
