Re: "Waiting Room"
The page where you filled out your app will change from thisjackson1868 wrote:I'm relieved to see that I'm not alone. I was starting to get worried. Here is my timeline:
Application/CHL-100 Submitted: Feb 1, 2016
Fingerprints Submitted: Feb 9, 2016
Confirmation email: Feb 9, 2016
Plastic in Hand: ?
I'm new to the forum. What do people mean when they say "website change". When I login to view my application status, I get the whole "please allow sufficient time" jargon. Will that change when my application is processed? Will I receive an email when application is processed and license is in the mail? Thanks in advance for the help.

Emailed RSD today to make sure they've gotten everything. All I got back was the "We're very busy" form letter so I guess they're kinda busy.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Yes, it would be easier. However it's probably a fight that's a few years down the road. I think that the main frustration here is that the paperwork disappears into a department with no way of checking the status and contacting them is slightly more painful than talking to Comcast Customer Service. Transparency would go a long way to resolving these issues.TeachMan2016 wrote:Another day and another non-status change and non-license in hand day.
I see plenty of timelines and issues with getting the license. Would it not be easier for the state of Texas to just give the people the constitutional right to carry? I mean forcing people to pay for a class, pay for an application (which could be approved or denied), pay for fingerprints, and then wait for months; isn't that against the founders of the Constitution ideas about "RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS"? As many people as I see on here complaining, and as many people that have submitted applications to the DPS these past few months, I feel if we all spoke up that we could get that law changed. The great state of Texas isn't so great when I (we) have to wait months (sometimes half a year) just to protect ourselves and our families. But will it ever change; I don't know so I guess I will continue to wait. Maybe the upcoming election season for state reps we demand a vote on this issue of constitutional carry and let the people speak!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I'd better see an April Fools on your next post.CaptainShaklaky wrote:So status update......... I was all in 2/16 and this was the first time I was able to actually get through on the phone. I spoke with a gentleman and don't remember his name. I asked if all my paperwork had been received and if so if there was an ETA on everything. He said they had not even touched my application but he did confirm that he had received all of my fingerprints, document, etc. He then let me know that "It could take 2-3 more months just to get my paperwork pushed through the system, and that once it had, they would need to complete a background check. The background check could possible take 60-90 days to complete." I've waited a month and a half ( which I am fine with) and am being told that it could take another 6 months? That would be a 7 1/2 month wait time for my ltc in total. I really hope that he is mistaken. I know a lot of you guys had to wait quite a while but they were getting them through in the 60-80 day range. I hope that this is not what is to come for us post 2015 applicants.

Were there any other differences between the two of you? Veteran, police officer, or anything?tabbykat38 wrote:My husband and i submitted our apps and payment the same day. Re: "Waiting Room"
So only two weeks since the paperwork hit their PO box. Now the doubt is setting in, "did they get everything?" It's not like the web site is telling me anything. If USPS can track a package around the world why can't DPS track paperwork in an office. Maybe next week I'll call to double check.

I have call RSD 2 times and have only been told that all of my documents have been received and that everything looks good. Caught a news story last night that DPS was hiring more people to help with the backlog LTC applications. Here's hoping the training process is quick.

Fingerprints: 12/23/15
Status Change: 3/22/16
Plastic in hand: 3/23/16
For a grand total of 93 calendar days and 61 business days since my confirmation email. If I hadn't called my state rep and Gov Abbott, who knows how long it would have taken? I think that shaved off 2-3 weeks.
It's been real, folks. Y'all be safe out there!
