Re: "Waiting Room"
Attention, Walmart Shoppers! Control your children, remove garments that have any designs resembling bulls-eyes and for sure hide your watermelons. A dude called "brooklyn" is taking his first Wally Walk. He's probably stopping at the men's room and then checking on the ammo pricing. He's harmless and will be leaving the store shortly. Thank you, Walmart Shoppers.
A little humor to celebrate receiving my plastic. It has been a long wait.

Brooklyn has left the building.

Re: "Waiting Room"
Wow! If I was in your position I would give your state representative a call and see what they can do for you. You are being treated very poorly and there is no reason for it. If the state rep's office contacts the RSD you will receive a call from someone at the RSD that will let you know what is going on with your application. Make sure that you get a contact telephone number so that if things don't go as planned you can get back to the same person.JoCannonIV wrote:Getting the runaround from the RSD, not sure what I can do or who I can contact for help with this, if anybody at all. I live in south Austin so it is not looking good.
Original all in date was 2/16/16
Uploaded additional documents 2/25/16
First call: 8 weeks ago: was told that the original start date of the 2/16/16 would be kept as the all in date.
Second Call: 6 weeks ago: Was told that the application was in background check and it could take two to three weeks.
Third Call: 2 weeks ago and was told that the all in date was the 25th and I should see results within 60 business days (yesterday). I could live with this and I fully understand the RSD using the date of the 25th after all of the documents have been received.
Called today: Was told that all documents were uploaded into there system on the 4/23/16 and it would be 12 weeks from that date. What? Where did the date of 4/23/16 come from?
Where is it in the rules that the issuance of a license or a letter of denial shall be issued from the date at which the Department decides to upload the documents? I didn't ask that, it was what I was thinking. Figured if I said that then all of a sudden all of my documents have been lost or something like that.
I did say "so you are telling me the end of July?" And the reply back was "yes but not all applications are taking the full 12 weeks", And yet I am being told that my application process is know looking at 25 weeks, Basically 6-months.
I don't want to call a state rep, senator or the Governor's office. But I am seriously running out of patients here. I would rather get a denial letter and have a hearing in 30 days, it is better than 12 additional weeks.
I really think that I have been very patient, but this is just ridiculous.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I sent my medical info to the MAB a few days ahead of you. As I explained in a prior post, the three physicians meet every two weeks and review all received medical paperwork. I spoke with a supervisor at the RSD on Monday, two full weeks after they received my paperwork, and found out that the MAB approved my application and that it is going to take 7-10 business days for me to receive my plastic. So yours will be coming soon. It just depends on when the physicians meet as to when they review your application. The representative that you spoke to was a jerk. Probably a person with low self esteem that gets off on treating people rudely on the phone. He must have been mistreated as a child. Should we feel sorry for him? No way!lgibs2 wrote:Very frustrated now.
All in with confirmation: 2/8/16
Received notice from Medical Advisory Board:5/4/16
Returned paperwork from MAB: 5/6/16
Called to C/S: 5/18/16 - was told it could take them 7-8 weeks since it was returned by mail and the guy on the phone laughed and told me to be patient...I've been waiting since February, patience is gone at this point! 7-8 weeks to check the mail?! I work at a state facility and we would NEVER let the mail sit that long, no matter how big a backlog we have!
Woosaaaaa...How frustrating, all for being honest on my application!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I am also waiting on the Medical Advisory Board. As explained to me by a supervisor, the board is made up of three MD's that meet once every two weeks to review the medical forms. He also advised me that they review all forms that are waiting so at most the application is at the Medical Advisory board a little over two weeks. Once an approved application is returned to the RSD, it should be a short process of final approval and sending the application for printing. I'm only the messenger so don't blame me if the info is inaccurate.lgibs2 wrote:All in to RDS: 2/8/16

Received Medical Advisory Paperwork: 5/2/16
Physician Returned Medical Advisory Paperwork by mail: 5/4/16
Time to wait...guess I'm in for another 3 months, huh? I guess it's just good to always be honest...
My Medcial Advisory Forms were received at the MAB: May 3.

Re: "Waiting Room"
I would like to make an observation. I have been on this forum since back in February and I am noticing a change in the participation of its members. I have seen many come and go. What is very remarkable is that the participation has dropped considerably recently. I believe that this is due to changes made by the RSD at the DPS. The new hires, reallocation of personnel, instituting overtime and working on weekends has helped the enormous backlog of applications. The DPS RSD has to be commended on their progress but they still have a long way to go. The frustration of the participants is not as bad as it was a while back. The newer applicants are being served faster than before. But we are still here waiting. Misery loves company. I suppose the misery is not as bad as it used to be. BTW, I hear that several old-timers are still lost doing their Wally Walks.

My license was mailed out on the 15th and just now arrived. That is not why I am irritated. I am irritated because after that awful wait and all the anticipation, my license arrived with my correct height, weight, address, DL number, hair color and eye color but HAS SOMEONE ELSE'S PHOTO AND SIGNATURE ON IT!! They use your driver's license photo! If my drivers license number is correct on my carry license, then how did that happen!?! Im Caucasian, red hair, blue eyes and 30yrs old. The guy on my license is 40-45yrs old and Hispanic! Now I have to wait for a re-issue and snail mail all over again!

Re: "Waiting Room"
I got these forms from the Medical Advisory Board. They were printed out with my name and application number on it. If someone needs them I suggest contacting their State Representative like I did. I tried to find them online to download myself but I could not find them.dbmet wrote:Where did you get these forms in case others need these.

1. Applicant/Licensee's Medical History Form which is completed by an M.D.
2. Authorization for Release Form which is completed by the applicant
Without these completed forms, and possibly even with them, you are probably adding an addition two months to your wait. Don't ask me how I know. I got my forms after getting my State Representative involved with finding out the status of my application.

Re: "Waiting Room"
There has been a question regarding whether calling a State Representative does any good. I called mine to receive status report regarding my application. I found out that my application needed to be sent for further investigation and just so happens to have been sent to that area TODAY. Coincidence??? It probably would have been sitting in someone's computer for who knows how long before it was acted upon. If you have any question, call your State Representative, just don't tell that I told you to.

This was posted on another forum on April 7, 2016:
"My wife got hers in this past Saturday. She got everything done on March 3rd. The lone star state has stepped it up I guess."
I don't know if this was truthful or if someone was trying to get a rise out of everyone.

I received a letter from the RSD requesting more info. It took 6-7 days to get to me from the date on the letter.TeachMan2016 wrote:brooklyn wrote:Do you have any idea what that means? What documents? What agency? Inquiring minds...TeachMan2016 wrote:Good Morning fellow waiters,

However, I did receive an email response back from the DPS (same day response) they informed, "Our records indicate your application is pending receipt of the following:
Documents requested via letter from the agency"
So with that in mind, i'll obviously be waiting for my plastic until the good Lord comes back to take me home!
Brooklyn,
I have no clue what that even means??? I sent them another email with the hopes it would get back to me just as fast as I have received them before. I did not receive anything in the mail from them pertaining to the "agency letter", so I am in gun license limbo.

I'm under the impression that the status screen is updated sometime in the morning. Anybody know if it is updated throughout the day?Practitioner wrote:So I have been very patiently waiting. I set the day tracker on my phone and today marks the 60th day, not the 60th business day. I've bought two holsters and been practicing weekly. I really wish this process didn't take forever. By viewing other posts, it looks like I have 20-30 more days to continuously refresh my Texas RSD "status" screen.
