Dallas county has become heavy Democrat. Some of it may be due to straight ticket voting.
The Texas legislature changed that this past session. No more straight ticket voting.

While I don't live in Dallas County, I did tune into the live feed when that happened last week. I will say it was quite amusing to watch.

This might be the interesting question. Almost all police departments that I am aware of have issued orders to not make traffic stops for most violations. If it is reckless or endangering people go ahead, but not the general stuff. This is to protect the officers from the virus.

That is the word I am getting from the members of various police groups I am still a member of on the internet.

I remember reading about another group of people who had to provide papers to authorities when stopped in public.
I have a young lady who takes care of an elderly lady in our church. She was given a special ID for work. Today she was stopped at 7:00AM just to see why she was out.

Re: Dallas Ordering New Tough Restrictions

Dallas County isn't the only one acting up.

See Tarrant County's order;
http://www.tarrantcounty.com/content/da ... ndment.pdf
3.This Declaration authorizes the County to commandeer or use any private property as provided by law.
I am no constitutional scholar, but I believe that would be a violation of the 5th amendment.

...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
