Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
Not anymore. He ran for US Senate against Ted Cruz. Since he could not be on the ballot for both positions at the same time, he did not run for re-election for his house seat.TreyHouston wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 12:46 pmDoesn’t he have a district or something to run and focus on?flechero wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 11:42 amMe: robert francis should get a job.philip964 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 9:21 am https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4 ... uld-resign

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
My prediction is that Mueller releases his report and announces the conclusion of his investigation.
House Democrats with their newly regained majority decide to launch a 2 year long "investigation" occupying their time until the 2020 election.
This COULD potentially work in Trump's favor as it could show that the Democrats accomplished nothing but more than a wild goose chase.
This could give the Republicans control of both houses and the White House until at least 2024.
With each passing year, it increases the chances of one of the other left leaning SCOTUS justices stepping down.

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
There have been people near me reporting on Nextdoor about signs being stolen or damaged. Both Cruz and Beto signs have been affected. I don't dispute that there are people on the fringe of both sides both capable and willing to do this. If you disagree with a candidate a person is supporting, show support for their opponent or another candidate you support by placing a sign in your yard. It shouldn't be that hard to understand. The signs are private property and should be treated as such. I know I'm preaching to the choir here though. <end rant>

I would argue that none of us should be complacent. Cruz may win by a large margin, but that is hardly guaranteed. Vote, and make your voice heard!

I agree with you 100%. I falsely assumed that he had just started using the nickname for this race, and proved myself wrong. That is all I was pointing out.Redneck_Buddha wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 5:01 pmThere are so many other more valid reasons to not vote for the guy than his Hispanic sounding nickname.Flightmare wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 4:35 pm Part of me was curious, so I went and checked the Texas Secretary of State website. When he initially ran in 2012 for CD16, he was listed as Beto then too.

While I would LOVE to ding him for changing just for this race, it DOES appear he's used it (at least in his campaign) for at least the last 6 years. I didn't bother going back to see what he was listed as when he ran in the municipal races in El Paso.

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?
Technically speaking, Cruz DID back out of the 2nd scheduled debate. However that was because there was supposed to be a vote on Kavanaugh. When there was a delay because they were going to let the FBI investigate (again), the Cruz campaign contacted O'Rourke's campaign (within hours of cancelling the debate) to say that Cruz would be available after all for the scheduled debate. O'Rourke said that he had already committed to something else for that time, and did a facebook live stream from his kitchen.PriestTheRunner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 11:23 amThe CNN Townhall was a booby trap set for Ted. Beto will have an hour to him self on CNN, as Ted declined to come on CNN.
I get that it's cnn, but he's giving bo a lot of free lee way in this race. I hope Ted knows something that we don't because I'm a bit nervous.
Kudos to Ted for not falling for the trap. I guarantee the whole thing would have been scripted.
It is funny though that the press is trying to set this up as Ted refusing a debate. He hasn't refused any debates (though Beto has), but the way they are reporting it is as if this was going to be a debate, not a town hall.
