Reduce the size, power, and influence of the federal government....elected, appointed, and regular staff....and the problem starts to go away. I think a long term cure would be to limit the number of bureaucrats allowed to live/work in DC and Northern Virginia. Those agencies should be scattered throughout the rest of the country. Any place with high speed interned and an airport would work.
I think we have more to fear from 'faceless' bureaucrats than we do from politicians.
