I'm glad they're going to be okay. Completely OT here... why is it that bike riders claim, "I had to lay it down"? Nobody has to "lay it down". Why can't they just say, "I locked up the rear wheel in a panic stop, and wrecked it"?... brother in law and sister in law who had to lay down their bike today.
The traction of rubber is always better than steel and chrome and fiberglass, and staying on the bike in a controlled stop or evasive maneuver always beats the (unknown, but always bad) options when you get off in a hurry.
