He started buying his supplies the day before the Colorado incident. I think it's clear he was already planning this, but it's likely that Colorado spurred him to go ahead and act quickly.

I watched the press conference today and heard PA Gov. Ed Rendell get asked about possible "gun control measures". Rendell, a gun controller himself, made this statement "Even the most adrent gun control advocates would be disingenious to say that addtional gun control laws would have stopped this shooting." He went on to say that there was nothing in this guys past that indicated any problem, no criminial history,e tc. ...the 9mm was purchased legally. He said there is not way to stop someone who is intent on getting killed from committing such an act....
That's pretty amazing, coming from Rendell. It almost sounds like... common sense!

You said it!

Just when you think it couldn't get worse...Read that book!
Whenever Job comes up, I feel obliged to point out that while Job loved God, he didn't understand him. I often see Christians going through a hard time who will quote Job: "Though He slay me, I will serve Him!"

Trouble is, God wasn't causing Job's troubles. Satan was. If you swear to serve the one who's piling the troubles on, you're serving the wrong one!

Not to mention lumber, nails, and a hammer.

News reports say he had no quarrel with the Amish, and whatever his 20 year old "issue" was, it had nothing to do with them specifically. It seems he wanted to retaliate against schoolgirls, so he chose a school that was nearby, easily accessible, and guaranteed to have no form of security or way to quickly summon help.

Sad.

Terrible event.

The Amish are pacifists. I understand pacifism on a personal level, and I understand opposing government initiating force. But since pacifism is intended for the benefit of the attacker (to persuade him and others that initiating violence is wrong), how could it possibly work when the attacker is crazy and just looking for easy victims?

For the sake of such an attacker's soul, first you have to stop the attack. Refusing to defend oneself does not deter someone intent on killing you, especially when his intentions have no sane basis.
