I can't believe David Beard is still sticking with the insane policy of making night deposits. Even 17 years ago when I was the closing manager for the local Shoney's, the cash stayed in the safe overnight. The day manager would make an afternoon deposit, but the rest of the cash stayed put.

Depending on the day of the week, I would count anywhere from $2,000 to $12,000, do all the deposit paperwork, then lock it all up in a safe buried in concrete. The general manager would make a bank run after the breakfast rush the next day.
