They were not coated with Teflon and would not penetrate a BP vest as was commonly thought. The bullets were coated with a substance called Lubalox (sp?) that was suppossed to increase barrel life, or at least protect the barrel. The reason they are so notorious is because of thier expansion properties which allowed them to expand with sharp edges that sliced through the victims internals. 15 years ago this was new idea.

BT's haven't been manufactured for maybe 13 or 14 years.
Well, that's the info I was looking for. the Lubalox stuff.
I carry the Winchester Ranger series RA45TP's in mah 45.
I had heard about all the shenanigans associated with the jacketed reverse taper HP, but the "teflon coating" was a new one to me. thanks ScubaSteve.

I had heard that the Black Talon was teflon coated (you know how rumors are), is that true, and/or why?
