Re: Police Officer holds door open for a woman gets a reprimand
Had a similar incident happen to me years ago. Saw a woman coming up to a door I was going out of, and held it open for her. She saw that and responded in a nasty tone, "I don't need you holding the door open for me because I'm a woman." Took me back for what seemed like an eternity, but i...

Re: Thoughts using laser as bedside gun
I agree on the flashlight, but I would think to use it more as a weapon than to illuminate the target. I shine a bright light in your eyes when they are adjusted to the dark, you're going to be blind for at least a few seconds giving me an advantage. A lot can happen in a few seconds. That includes ...

Re: California Professor Charged with Assaulting 7 with Bike Lock Gets Probation
I do see one bright side to this. By getting a criminal conviction, even though it's only misdemeanor, he's still guilty in criminal court. Can't speak to CA law, but I've been told here in Texas that makes you automatically guilty in civil court. Meaning any of his victims only have to prove damage...

Note to self: not your job to police handicapped parking spaces. Well, in Houston at least, you can volunteer: http://www.houstontx.gov/parking/volunteer.html As for whether or not the shooting was justified, I think they both screwed up, but watching the video several times, Markeis (the shootee) ...

IANAL, but I believe it is if each sign meets the all the other legal requirements on it's own.

Re: GA: Teen intruders use stun gun on woman
I don't believe that many folks involved with a legitimat self defense shooting would use the word satisfying to describe their feelings after the shoot. Of course not, for two reasons: 1) One, the crime was pretty much prevented. They didn't go through the horror, and don't have as many physical a...

Re: Traveling to/thru other states
When traveling to Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri, (I do this yearly) I treat all "no gun", gun buster as having force of law. Not really that many just pay attention at fast food places and gas stations. Mississippi have a specific sign for licensed carry and i...

Re: Traveling to/thru other states
Been there. Some of the confusion comes from that site (which is the best in general I've found so far). Take Louisiana for example: Do “No Gun Signs” Have the Force of Law? “YES” What do those signs look like? Can they be gun buster signs or do they have to say "No Guns" or something else...

Traveling to/thru other states
Later this summer, I'll be on the road, and passing through several other states. I'd appreciate it if anyone is familiar with the states below and can share with me some quick pointers. I've checked and all them seem to honor my TX LTC (and I'm over 21). I know I'll have to obey the state's laws th...

Re: Saw my first iinvalid sign today
It's unlikely that the very few licensed folk would cross a legitimate sign would be caught if their gun were properly concealed. The key word is legitimate. I'm referring to signs that don't meet all the requirements of the law. I do agree that us licensed folk would as a group obey said legitimat...

Re: Saw my first iinvalid sign today
While these two were civil not criminal cases, I can offer some food for thought. I can't get in to specifics, but I know of two cases. In one, a foreclosure notice was sent with a return receipt requested. The receipt had the 9 digit zip code. The last 4 digits were wrong. Foreclosee (or post offic...

Thanks Pawpaw. I never could get the TABC site to work for me. So not legal, but you have a [probably] solid defense.

I did look it up, but couldn't get the TABC to return anything. I tried enabling pop-ups for their site, but still got nothing. Info in case anyone wants to try is: Liquid Lounge 3342 Chimney Rock Houston, TX 77056 Looking at the page I linked, there is this note: "Please ensure your sign print...

Sign validity
I came across what appears at first glance to be a 51% sign, and therefore off-limits to us LTC folk. But on closer inspection, I'm not so sure. 51sign.jpg I couldn't find any other signs and except for the door, all the windows are covered up. Looking at the TABC site, http://www.tabc.texas.gov/pub...

Re: Longetivity of ammo
Thanks. It appears my worries are unfounded, since I do keep it dry. I like the idea of cycling it out every so often and practicing at the range with it too, something I have been avoiding due to cost. But you all are probably right, it's probably worth it.
