All of the listed reasons are the same for me. No one knows when or where a violent encounter may occur, nor do we know until after the fact exactly what our response will be. But, having a chance to defend myself,my family or possibly an innocent third party, is much more palatable to me than simply complying with a criminal and relying on the "goodness" of his heart to spare my life. Just my 2 cents.
