Welcome to the forum! :tiphat:

Contact DPS, and see if they can tell you why there is a delay. If they can't help contact your State representatives, they can get things moving along pretty quickly.

Hello to all ! I am new Here.. This is my timeline . me and my wife took the class completed everything on 9-15-18 both received confirmation emails by the 9-18-18 Checkless shows up on 9-18-18 ... wife’s Goes print pending over that weekend and receives her license on the 24th meanwhile mine still says fingerprints under review and background check under review as of 10-8-18😫
That's because you're a scallywag, and your wife is not. Just kidding, there could be a myriad of reasons yours is taking longer, like if you lived in a State, that is not as gun friendly, and they are dragging their feet getting info to the DPS, your fingerprints, may not be as readable as they should, be, or your name is similar to a real scallywag, and they are just verifying the fingerprints. Don't worry too much, they also don't always update, the site, in a timely manner. We have had some who got their plastic, before their list showed print pending. In the mean time stay close by your wife, so she can protect you for a little while.

P.S. Welcome to the forum. :tiphat:

I've had one Class B misdemeanor ten years ago, and a lifetime of government contracting with various security clearances since 1991.

Still waiting :banghead:
I have no evidence to back this up, but I think, it may take longer sometimes, if you have had security clearances, that have expired, because they have to validate, that your clearances weren't taken away for nefarious reasons. Also various agencies respond at different rates of speed to requests. If you have moved from another state, for example, they have to check with them, and some states, are not particularly, inclined to respond, to a Texas request for a LTC. JMHO

Algill1279 wrote:Anyone know how often DPS updates the progress of certification process? Since last night at approx 7pm I've checked the status at least 5 times lol.

From other posters on here, it seems the DPS has sped up the process of mailing out LTC, but are still lax on updating web site status. Some have gotten their plastic before their status changes. Don't put so much stock in the status on-line, they seem to be averaging a six week turnaround on plastic in hand.

Rixuneaux wrote:Even though it's moving faster for the newer applicants, there are still those of us who are passed 60 days and I assume, on our way to 90 days or more. I guess they use our folders to stabilize their wobbly desk so they can process the new ones faster.

I know several members have been able to get results by contacting their State Representatives. If you are waiting that long maybe a call will speed things along. :tiphat:

Been hanging around reading the forums about 2 weeks and decided it was time I throw my timeline out there. I have to say I'm very impressed. I don't know if it's because I have previous TCOLE licensing, or just luck of the draw..lol..Either way I'll take it.

09/02/16 - Application Online
09/06/16 - Fingerprints
09/06/16 - Submitted all documentation thru Email submission
09/20/16 - Everything showed green on website and status is "License to carry a handgun: Print Pending"

This makes me very excited seeing as most received it not long after print pending.!!.
:woohoo

Welcome to the Forum! :tiphat:

DPS seems to be processing everything much faster now. there was a time earlier this year that people were waiting three months or longer. Congrats on the speedy turnaround.

I am new to this forum. As of today, I am still waiting...

TIMELINE

08/13 - Took CHL Class
08/15 - Application Online
08/16 - Fingerprints
08/16 - Mailed Documents via Certified Mail
08/18 - Documents Received (Per tracking information)
09/02 - Status finally updated online (Fingerprints - Under Review & Background Check - Under Review)

It seems the people that submitted their information online vs. sending in the mail are the ones receiving their LTC quicker. Correct me if I am wrong. I am not sure why it's taking so long for me. I have had a FBI background check done for my current employer, and I have passed the background check to purchase. I actually purchased my firearm in June.

First off welcome to the forum!! :tiphat:

I don't know that it makes any difference in getting your plastic whether done on line, or mailed. But they don't always update your status, in a timely manner. as you can read some of the posts on here, some never showed sent to printing before they got their plastic.
Be patient, it has only been a little over a month, you should be getting yours soon. :thumbs2:

By the 30th everything was green except reviewing BG and reviewing fingerprints. Nothing has changed since. Im in Dallas county. Ive seen others mentioning BG still in review but is it normal for my fingerprints to still be under review this far out?

Welcome to the forum! :tiphat:

I have seen a few folks whose fingerprint review took a little longer, but more than likely they just haven't updated it yet.
While you wait take some time to look around, and ask questions. Someone will have the answer, and there's a better than average chance it will be correct!! :biggrinjester:

There is obviously something not right. You need to be phone the phone with them finding out what is going on behind the scenes with your application cause that's far far outside the norm.
Wow yeah I second that. I'd be on the phone for sure, state rep or someone on up there
I had not heard about calling the state rep before, I will try that on monday. I have never been able to get anywhere calling them directly. Every time i called, it would hang up on me after an automated response. I had to go in person and talk to the security guard, who called upstairs to get me the name of someone to find out what more they needed in may.

Needless to say i was surprised to see people getting theirs within a couple weeks, month, and months...

i did call my state rep and they were very helpful. i found out there was some error in them getting back to me, but my application was denied due to a ticket i got in 2012. so, thats that apparently.

What kind of "ticket" is a disqualifyer? Tickets are usually Class C Misdemeanors. Not trying to get into your personal business, but It sounds strange to me.

Re: "Waiting Room"

TXPeaceOfficerDave wrote:Sure. Most of you have had an NCIC and county check. Asked for child support. Done a few 21 database search.

But you've not had a TRUE background check unless you've had a lifestyle poly. Talked you your neighbors. I reviewed your boss and coworkers IN PERSON. ran your credit. Talked to your
Mortgage holder. And also had all that fine on your spouse and any child that lives with you over age 18.

Then you'll know what a background check is.

What they do for a LTC is a cursory review of databases and a few mail outs. That's it ladies and gentlemen.

Been there done that. Also a few years ago had the DOD check for my security clearance. The LTC process probably isn't as intense or thorough, but then it shouldn't be. In fact, most of us would agree that to carry a handgun in Texas should be recognized as a right, that requires no government intervention at all, unless we are already prohibited from possessing a fire arm.
