Re: OC versus CC

My how this thread has migrated. By no means am I opposed to open carry. And probably will myself. On occasion. I meet alot of public. I don't want to introduce any scare factor at all. It's just hard to do with company uniforms sometimes. The owner and i are working on a solution.

I wish I had a nickel every time someone said this.

I've found most people are oblivious to their surroundings, even in uniform people sometimes don't even notice we are armed, so take off the "look at me" clothes, and the gun carried in a good owb pretty much disappears if you go about your business and act naturally most people won't even see you at all.
I must say I am oblivious to this as well. I have not seen 1 OC since Jan 1. I have even ask a few of my local vendors I frequent, and they haven't seen any. Even though a couple have 30.06 and 30.07 signs coming they wouldn't stop any one from coming in. Strictly a corporate decision.
The store managers told me they won't stay on the door. I wonder why... The are opposed to it as well. :smash:
I guess the point I'm making is that the exposure over time will relax the typical persons fear. But I still feel like you are setting yourself up for a bad day with open carry.

An unusual situation, for sure. One of those "problems you don't mind having". ;-)

If my wife asked me to OC, I'd spend some time asking her why.... There's probably an important discussion to be had there that goes beyond how you carry the gun. Maybe in understanding the "why" there's a good solution that makes both of you comfortable.

:thumbs2:
This is it. First, buy her flowers and put a hand written note with them. That chick is a-okay. Second, it seems like a good conversation to have about the why. Maybe she has some fears. Maybe she likes you as arm candy. Maybe you are her security blanket and she wants that blanket to visually spread far and wide (well, I guess she already expressed that to some extent). I think if you get to the why, you might be able to address her wants and your preferred method of carry.
No flowers for me. I just give her a box of 22LR and take her to the range! It's cheaper than flowers. :fire
We have had this conversation. As I mentioned earlier, I don't want to scare or intimidate someone. I also believe you are bringing attention to yourself and just asking for trouble and I also want that element of surprise.

Where her opinion is that people would be nicer and show more respect for each other thus detouring any violence. I'm also trying to convince her not to purse carry. 1 purse snatch and you just armed a criminal if not already.

OC versus CC

The wife and I just had a weird conversation. While I prefer CC, because I don't want to scare or intimidate anyone because of a weapon. My wife just expressed that she wants me to OC for a sense of security and I'm sure there is a pride issue as well. She will be getting her LTC soon.
