It may very well be an anti plant. However, you don't have to be 21 or legal to carry to get your hands on a spent casing. Just sayin'.Pawpaw wrote:I disagree. With very very few exceptions, anyone who is legal to carry is over 21. I will submit that they know better than to do something like that.LucasMcCain wrote:I like some of Ray LaMontagne's music, but after that statement he won't be getting any more of my money.
It smells a little of a deliberate setup, but it could also be a pro 2A student just trying to get a rise out of the liberals. While I can certainly understand that mindset, it's really not appropriate at this time. We need campus carry to be as much of a non-event as open carry has been.
To me, this smells of some anti-campus carry "activist" planting cases to get some bad press, knowing who the liberal media will pin it on.

That's actually really sad. I believe all three professors are English professors of one kind or another.TexasJohnBoy wrote: The AG response is even better formatted, and had better grammar.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms
You have a stronger stomach than me, my friend. I read all of the AG's response and loved it. I got about halfway through the second page of the plaintiff's complaint and threw up in my mouth a little bit. I couldn't take it. I'm assuming it didn't get better after that point?TexasJohnBoy wrote:I just read all 40 or so pages of the plaintiffs request and the AG's response. I've never read 40 pages of any legal jargon, and I think that the AG opinion is a pretty hard slap. I think it goes without saying, this thing should get tossed.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms
Exactly. While you're at it, get someone from DPS to come by and read the list of crimes committed on the UT campus last year. The victims of all of those crimes were forced to rely solely on the police force for protection. I'm not bashing the police, of course, but they can't be everywhere at once.bblhd672 wrote:And these are the people indoctrinating, I mean educating, our children and grandchildren. It would be great if the Austin Police testified in court to the fact that according to the Supreme Court it is not the police's job to protect the citizens.

Yeah, that far south parking lot is a serious hike from even the closest buildings, and some of the neighborhoods around there are really not great.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms
You make a good point. I never worried about being attacked in class when I was in college. I did while walking out to the far parking lot where my car was though.nimravus01 wrote:What they fail to understand is that a the LTC holder is not there to be a police officer for the class as a whole. In actuality, the LTC holder carries for their own individual protection, which largely involves travel to and from said classroom. So what the professors are really suggesting is taking away an individual's right to self protection when they aren't even in class. We just do not want guns in our classrooms; we have a well-trained police force in the city of Austin and on campus. I seem to remember hearing about a serial rapist when I was in school. Do you think he was raping women while they were in class?
