I like the Prohibition argument too, because when the government wanted to criminalize alcohol throughout the US they amended the Constitution...for prohibiting something not even in the Bill of Rights. But when pushing to take away a Constitutional right, they wish to do it via legislative or executive fiat... :rules:

Oooohh. I somehow missed that point. That's a good one. I'm going to remember that.

Re: Local Paper Advocates Australian Gun Control

Every time someone advocates completely banning guns in America, I point out drugs. Heroin, ecstasy, PCP, LSD, cocaine, etc are all illegal. Most of them are highly illegal, and carry stiff penalties for getting caught with very much of them at all. So clearly there aren't any illegal drugs in America, right? We have been waging war on drugs for what, 35 years? Billions, and that's billions with a B, of taxpayers' dollars have been spent waging this war. We have a whole branch of law enforcement just for fighting this war. Guess what?

There are still tons of drugs on our streets. It is still easy for criminals to get drugs. Laws have done exactly nothing to change this.

The government can't even handle a bunch of junkies. You really think they will be able to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, much less terrorists?
