I don't know if I can say they are lies based on the wording of the platform because the platform does not define terms the same way I do. For example, in the one line we all do not believe, they claim:I claim they are trying to take away my guns if they are trying to take away any of them and they claim it is not taking away my guns because they are letting me keep some of them. I could also claim there is no such thing as logical gun control and no gun control will stop the mass shootings. I would also claim it is a lie by posting quotes from as far back as 1995 with Dianne Feinstein to 2019 with Beto Rodriguez both saying they would collect/ban all assault weapons.They say we want to take away your guns: we don’t, that’s a lie. We want logical gun control to help prevent mass shootings.
Many of the other claims are of similar nature: the definition of the terms is critical to the argument. The biggest one I see as a clear lie is the claim that they don't want free things. The party calls for a move towards what they call single payer heathcare. They want to provide health insurance to every person in the US free. The honest ones recognize it is not single payer but a tax increase where everyone who works is paying, so it is hard to say the claim is a lie even though I define it as a lie.
If we can't agree on the definition of words, then there is no hope for a productive discussion.On the gun control item, the DNC clearly wants to take away guns. They are not trying to hide their belief that "weapons of war" "have no place on our streets". I think their logic is as Srothstein states above. They are willing to let you keep some guns, so they can say that they "don't want to take away your guns".
By that logic if I want mandatory 10 year prison sentences for all minorities, I guess I could accurately say that I don't want to take away their freedom. After all I am still letting them live free for all the other years of their lives, right?
