Even the VFW didn't like us, they didn't want to have anything to do with us even those who were required to fight.
It takes all jobs to make the military function. It doesn't matter if you didn't see combat. I see this so often in our vets and it breaks my heart. Your role made other roles possible. Furthermore, your three years of dedicated service is not in any way diminished by the length of time you have been out, nor the way others react to you. I wish you could visit the VFW here. They welcome everyone with open arms including nubblet civilians making quilts like me. Please don't think less of your service because of the shortcomings of others. I for one am grateful for the time you put into the service of our country and our freedoms.

Re: Military Discount

Ok this drives me insane...the fact that ya'll are embarrassed, ashamed, etc to ask if there's a military discount says so much about the failures of us civilians to make it known what heroes ya'll truly are. I don't care if you're an Army Ranger or a telecom specialist or if you served 2 years or 20. You still made the commitment and took the oath and I couldn't be more honored than to have the chance to get to know each and every one of you. So keep your heads up and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
