I saw a fella at one of the latest (non-Saxet) gunshows here in San Antonio who was selling his own version of these car mounts using a brass fitting that was machined to adjust the cant of the riveted holster once affixed to the vehicle. A very simple yet effective device. One of those things if you look at it long enough you say, "I can make that"...but ultimately shell out the money. He even had some custom made car console safes. Unfortunately his stock probably was meant for SUV/truck sized consoles. They were pretty ingenious. The lock mech. was a mechanical button combo lock (no need for batteries) and he made the door with an option to be springloaded. What I really thought was smart was the mount that brought your weapon out of the console in a provided holster. Definitely Batman stuff.

Alas, this is what we Lefties do to make sense of the right world. I think thats why we have shorter life spans!

Excellent mod. to your vehicle! About 2 weeks ago, I decided to put to use the holster that came with my XD. The challenge was that I'm a left handed draw and they of course do not (as of yet) supply left handed holsters in the package deal. I have an XD model in .45ACP (5in barrel). Problem with applying that mod. to my vehicle's console was that I probably would have to go through a few more movements to accomodate my left hand draw should God forbid the need arise. I ended up bottom mounting the stock holster so that it is within my natural grasp, similar to if you were engaging the hood release. It is mounted with bolts and is not going anywhere. I do not keep it here all the time. My Desantis paddle is for that, however, long trips make it an ideal carry place.

I'm sure some may chide me for what is seemingly open carry. I won't debate that at this point.
