Story is 3 months old, but I find only one story since then which mentions only that he was indicted for 2nd murder and felony with a firearm.
In March, deputies with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department say Doggett shot and killed his mother’s boyfriend, 36-year-old John Conroy Jr., in the home where they all lived. An investigator on Wednesday testified that Conroy took three bullets to the chest and two to the back.
According to detectives, the teen told them he was afraid of Conroy Jr., who was mentally ill and off his medication. Doggett said he shot the victim after Conroy Jr. hit his mother, who was asking Conroy Jr. to move out.
During Wednesday’s preliminary hearing, the judge ruled that Doggett did not have the right to use deadly force because the victim wasn’t armed.

According to this link, the trial is scheduled for November or December 2016.
Since the person has been charged as an adult, he name has been released by the press.
Previous articles stated that Conroy was hit multiple times. This newer article states that

Doing a little bit of Googling shows suggests that there might be some "family history" behind this story.
