Top Malaysian leaders suspect murder /suicide by pilot.

One time I worked out that you were more likely to die at the hands of a suicidal pilot than a mass shooter.
PERTH, Australia (AP) — Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said the “top levels” of the Malaysian
government long suspected that the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 almost six years ago was a mass
murder-suicide by the pilot.

Abbott was prime minister when the plane carrying 239 people vanished on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

“My very clear understanding, from the very top levels of the Malaysian government, is that from very, very early on, they thought it was
murder-suicide by the pilot,” said Abbott, who was Australia’s prime minster from 2013 to 2015.

I sure hope not. :cryin

11 suspected terrorists were arrested in Malaysia in connection to the disappearance of the airplane. The plane was carrying 200 lbs of lithium batteries. Don't know if these are related.
Lithium batteries could be an easy way to get something on board a plane that could start a big fire. :headscratch

I pray for those aboard that were innocent, as no one is any closer than they were two weeks ago to finding this plane...
:iagree: Good intelligence and security policy doesn't include exposing their capabilities.

howdy wrote:I wonder what the end game plan is. IF they find debris associated with the flight, then the real job/cost starts. WHO is going to do this and pay for it. It took 2 years to find the Air France voice and flight recorders. I believe France paid for that because it was one of their aircraft. Do we think Malaysia has the money, assets and will to devote to finding the crash site. I think not. That will leave the job to the good old United States. Maybe China would do it. They had the most citizens on board.
I think in Malaysia's case it is the lack of desire rather than having enough money and assets.

That is a very plausible explanation.
If one of them shot it down I think the other 2 would be pointing fingers
I hear ya but who would have thought a plane could just disappear in this day and time.
I may not have my facts straight, but if it were shot down, when would it have been shot down? The engines were still shaking hands with the radar 7.5 hours after disappearing, no?

The news stated this morning that China is getting quite upset with how the investigation is progressing. There were obviously a large number of Chinese people on board...
Maybe their statements are typical government speak PR. I would think that the Chinese are also performing their own investigation.

I can't explain how the engines were still shaking hands with the radar 7.5 hours after disappearing. It seems like the airlines and military communications experts could explain it better than me or the news reporters.

You might think that if the airliner was scheduled to land in China at a certain time and it didn't show up they would have started a search and investigation/inquiry right away.

On the northern/western track, India China and Pakistan have tons of Radars to track anything that pings. Any un-identified blip would result in fighters jet scrambled to intercept.
So why didn't any body scramble fighter jets?

Malaysia recruits witch doctors to find missing Boeing passenger jet

Ibrahim Mat Zin, famous shaman called ‘king of the witch doctors’ performs ritual at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Reports say he was invited by government officials.
Malaysian officials, already struggling with their public images after a jetliner with 239 people on board went missing,
have been further embarrassed after a team of witch doctors performed rituals at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport
to find the missing Boeing 777.

"Can't you see how stupid we look in the eyes of the world?" Datuk Seri Anwar, the country's opposition leader, asked parliament on Thursday, according to the Malay Mail.

I know this sounds bizarre, but "witch doctors" are commonly used in Malaysia.

It is not unusual to call in a witch doctor before opening a new building or factory or to bring one in a factory after an outbreak of "hysteria."

Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight Vanishes

This article states that the pilot and first officer are being investigated. It may just be politically motivated, but time will tell.

Pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah is said to have been a devout supporter of Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim who was sentenced March 7, hours before the doomed flight took off, to five years in prison on a sodomy charge — a development that many Malaysians regard as political payback. Shah adored aviation, judging by his posts to message boards and social media. He joined Malaysia Airlines in 1981 and had more than 18,000 hours of flying experience.

I heard that too, but I am surprised that a pilot would be able to turn off the signals on purpose.
Pilots have to be able to turn any system off, if for no other reason than to help deal with electrical problems.

Which, come to think of it, might've been what happened.
Could they turn off the black box? I don't think so.
