Re: CHL and no carry

My wife has actually reconsidered some of her views lately to the point where I ordered a second pistol. I took her to the range last Friday (first time she'd shot a pistol) and ended up leaving with a family membership. Ordered a nice little SIG P229 in .22LR to save on .45acp costs. Just need to rent a few calibers and let her shoot them so that I can get another slide for it in a slightly larger caliber. I really hope that she doesn't settle on .357 SIG after I looked at the ammo cost ;)

Once of these days she'll probably end up taking the class as well. But for now, I'll settle for her being happy going to the range and knowing how to shoot.
I shot a .22LR rifle and pistol target shooting for many years before "upgrading" to larger calibers. If your wife decides one the .357 Sig, one thing to remember is that you can buy barrels that will allow you to switch between .40 S&W and .357 Sig so she could practice with a cheaper round. I still believe that learning marksmanship basics with a .22LR is the best route.

WOW!

Think they're shy? Come on out guys and gals, we don't bite! :thewave
Some of us just are quiet and will post when we have something to say

I'll be in the 'have and won't carry daily' category in not too long (class is scheduled for tomorrow, everything else is already done) mainly due to my employer having a policy that by coming on property you are granting them permission to search your vehicle/person/property for prohibited items and that they will not only terminate emplyment, but state the company's intention to prosecute for criminal trespass if they do find anything (after all, in their opinion, bringing contraband on property past the signs prohibiting it is enough to show intent).

Lots of folks at the office are watching the current employee parking lot bills and letting our reps know that we support them.
Welcome back Iunnrais and glad to hear from you. Having something to say doesn't stop some of us.

I believe that it is. As a wag, I would say 5-10% at the most. I believe that the forum members are probably more the exception than the rule.
Probably. And there's only ~9000 registered members on the forum, out of 400,000+ CHL holders?

And Seamus, you're right. There's lots of people that don't have a CHL but carry anyway (like a granny I know that's had a S&W revolver in her purse for as long as I or anyone else has known her....)
And there are 2,500 forum members who haven't made a single post.

I carry more with shorts. I like the cargo shorts and my Wilderness Instructor Belt.

Re: CHL and no carry

rbrecount wrote:I took the CHL class and training so I would have a legal right to carry. I've read here and there about reasons to carry and I'm convinced I should and do. Why not? :confused5
There are a variety of reasons. One of the most common is someone who works at a federal facility or a company where you can't have a firearm on company property. So you drive to work armed and then can't bring it on the property. Some people will get a CHL for "emergencies" such as evacuating for a hurricane. Probably most people are just complacent. Others are just "lazy". ;-)
