The guy in Salinas, CA was not convicted of manslaughter. He was convicted of misdemeanor assault.

You are correct. He was originally charged with homocide. Mr. Moore plead guilty to a felony assault charge and the judge reduced it to a misdemeanor during sentencing.

I don't want to hijack this thread, because there is already one on this subject. I was using it as an example of how a "simple" situation such as "a push" can escalate into a really bad situation.

On a more serious note, Mr. Ironsights situation would be most frustrating. There is a group of people on his car, he's got two fully-loaded guns on his person and he can't do anything but call the police. He can't legally shoot them. If he goes up and pushes one of them off his car and the thug falls on the pavement and dies, then he could get convicted of assault like the guy in Salinas, CA. What if he just just went up and asked them to get off his car. They could can complied and left. Or the thugs, could have pulled a gun or knife and then he could have legally shot them. But then he and his friend might be shot by the thugs.

You're right as is your custom. The OP did say "a group of thugs and there women".

While I only minored in Math a pretty long time ago, I seem to recall that a group was more than one? I've never known, specifically what constituted "several" as opposed to a "few". Perhaps there was only a threesome on the OP's car?

As I recall from my math classes, also a long time ago:
A single = 1
A couple = 2
Two youts = 2
A few = 3
Several = 4
Some = 5 or more
A group = 6 or more
A quorum = 50% or more of a group
A gang = 7 or more
A crowd = 10 or more
A jury = 12
A baker's jury = 13

So a group of thugs with their woman = 8 or more.
That's a lot of people sitting on a car.

If someone you don't know is messing with your car, it's reasonable to believe they're committing or attempting to commit an offense under section 30.04 or 31.07 of the penal code.
