Re: Introduce yourself
Welcome to the forum truckster. This site is the best!truckster wrote:I've been around for a few years and I very rarely contribute and haven't done the formal introduction yet...so here it goes. I grew up a non-shooter. Family never had guns around, parents were just indifferent to firearms not against them. I reckon it would have just been another hobby my pops didn't want to spend his hard earned, hard to come by cash on. I bought my first handgun from a buddy of mine in early 2013, an HK USPc 9mm, and subsequently took my CHL course and got plastic shortly thereafter. I wish I had more time to shoot...I'm flying all over the place on weekends and I'm editing videos during the week. I can't imagine how I'm going to juggle my schedule when the bundle of joy arrives this summer .
This site has been so integral in me learning so much that I wasn't privy to a few years ago. TxCHLF.com is an absolutely incredible tool for newbies and old dogs alike. Nobody here knows it all and everyone has something unique to bring to the table and that's why I log on almost daily to find out what new 'thing' I'm going to learn that day

Welcome to the forum Fuse.Fuse wrote:Guess I'll finally do this. :)
I've been a member of this site for a few years - I'm one of those "not born in Texas, but got here as soon as I could" guys. I'm a software developer and data analyst to pay the bills and moved to the Dallas area last June after years of trying to convince my work to move me here from Illinois. While Illinois did finally pass conceal carry, I knew I was going to move to TX eventually, so didn't bother with the process there. I'm now waiting on my plastic to come - hopefully sometime in the next couple weeks.
In Illinois I was active in IDPA, MM in SSP/ESP, but I haven't shot a competition in almost two years. I have a three year old at home, so that takes a lot of hobby time and money. I'm looking to get back into competition soon - possibly uspsa. I'm also going to be venturing into some rimfire matches as well.
My main guys...
They all shoot better than I can.
Nice guns. Just like mine, they shoot better than me.

I have lots of reloading experience and glad to share it also with wildcat rifle calibers, especially 6mm cals.

Age slows you down but it sure does not lessen the enjoyment.
I took the 1st CHL class in Tarrant Co when the law went into force and carry daily, mostly a 2nd gen Glock 32 or for special occasions dad's Swenson 1911. I live in a rural area and sometimes shoot daily.
Give me a shout anytime !

Re: Introduce yourself
Welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will enjoy it here. This is a very civil place. Some of have attitudes, but the moderators keep us in check.thatguyoverthere wrote:Well, looks like I did just like "treadlightly" above. Didn't see this section, so just joined the forum and started slinging some stuff out there without proper introductions. My apologies.
As for me, I'm an old man, still working my day job (hopefully gonna fix that this year maybe). Been shooting for many years, but self-taught, no formal training (so watch out!). Fortunately for me, I've always lived out in the country, so I can literally just step off the back porch and start blastin'. Went to an actual official shooting range for the first time in my life just a couple of weeks ago.
Started getting interested in self-defense shooting lately. Like I've said before, I'm too old to take a beat down, and too fat to run away, so had to start looking at other options. Anyway, other than the serious self-defense type stuff, I mostly just like to hear the bang, and feel the kick, and see stuff blow up. Good ol' redneck fun, I guess.
Other than shooting, me and Momma like taking trips on our Harley. That's lots, of fun, too. Plus, hangin' with our 7 & 9 year old grandsons (that's the BEST!). Plus, I'm still working full time. Interferes a lot with the stuff I WANT be doing!
I don't expect to be posting a whole lot, but I do browse & read & lurk and whole lot. Lots of good information here, and a lot of my questions have already been asked by someone else, so I just poke around till I find what I'm looking for, normally.
And I can tell already that this is a great forum. I've been on a couple of motorcycle forums, and there are some REAL attitudes on some of those. It can get real ugly, real quick sometimes. Haven't seen that here the short time I've been here. And believe me, that's a good thing!
Anyway, looking forward to learning a lot of good stuff from you good folks here. And maybe every now and then I might come up with something worthy to add to the mix myself.
