I’ll add that I think that this forum has great member base and while we may disagree from time to time we are all 90% on the same page, which doesn’t make anyone here 10% my enemy. The day I feel that will be the day that I remove myself from here.

Sorry, I don't see anything in that report that negates what I wrote. FWIW, the preliminary report, as is widely known, said "no physical evidence of strangulation or asphyxiation."

Coronary failure is not really the same as cardiopulmonary arrest. Cause of death is LE subdual, restraint and neck compression (says not me but the county ME).
As far as fentanyl or meth, yep, present but ME cites those as “other significant findings” and not as cause of death.
As far as his heart issues, I bet 70%+ of folks on this very forum have the same disease and are still typing away...

Of course there’s no physical evidence of strangulation or asphyxiation. Nobody had their paws around his neck. Actually that’s even more troublesome as I believe he died very slowly and painfully.

I think if cops are gonna continue using this method, they should at least once experience (like a taser) what it feels like not to be able to expand your diaphragm while 180 pound or more individual has their knee pressing against the neck. Chill in that position for 5+ minutes then come back and tell us all about it.

I think the biological marker studies are evolving still but I’d guess that Tau cytoskeletal protein could be used to assess, but again, biological markers are at infancy still and I’d be surprised if they would be admitted into court. But I ain’t no MD or an attorney.

Cause of Death: “Cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression."

Manner of Death: “Homicide”

All other factors are just that, other factors. Seems to me that both ME’s actually agree more then disagree. Baden just has a juicier TMZesque write up.

Shallow depth of their reporting. Other article I read quoted owner of that same nightclub as saying they doubted the two ever worked together, as Floyd worked part time on weekdays, & Chauvin moonlighted on some weekends.

I am not sure that this has anything to do with this case, but one incompetent officer is too many. We need to improve the standards for hiring and retention. This has a couple of problems people need to be aware of. First is the obvious, good people cost more money. I am not saying cops are paid poorly everywhere, but we have some places in Texas where a full time patrol officer is still paid $30,000/year. They are rural, which actually raises the cost of living a little bit. This makes it much harder to get good cops there, with the only lucky side to this being that major problems rarely occur in rural areas.

The second problem is that it is much harder to find good people who want to be cops today. With the current media vilification of police, the best no longer want the job. This feeds into getting incompetent cops who make dumb mistakes which feeds into helping the media vilify cops as all bad. We need to break that cycle. I have no faith in the media changing the way they report the news (if it bleeds, it leads), so this is dependent on the police to improve standards and training. But that requires the local citizenry to be willing to pay for the better people and to communicate to the elected officials that they standards and training must be raised with the taxes. If we just throw money at the problem, it will not get better. We must throw some money at it, but we also must insist on better hiring and training instead of letting the agencies waste the money.

Very good points there. I feel terrible for the people who die as the result of someone’s incompetence. It also makes me sick to see the reputation of the ones who serve with honor and distinction tarnished by acts of the incompetent ones.

Also, I know many are, but I wish there was a requirement that to become LEO one must be a certified EMT. It is just a one semester course with clinicals but would help. Maybe unrelated to this but that’s my opinion.

At this point the only argument / question should be whether or not this is involuntary manslaughter or homicide. That or you’re blind and/or ignorant. Watch the video, zoom in on the man dying, calling for his mother pleading for his life and then go limp, while the nazi remains on his neck. No excuse for those actions. 4 of them on the scene and the best to offer is to choke the man to death? That’s the good police work? Thuggery is what that is and my friends on the blue line side I’ve asked are all appalled at this.
