Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump

Main thing is within the title of this thread. Trump is challenging Flag burning. He does not, nor will he, have the power to do anything about it other then to challenge it.

And all American Citizens should challenge burning of the American flag, unless they are commie supporters, prog slime.

Challenge the rape of your Nation, so your kids and grandkids may have the freedoms you enjoy.

Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump

But the issue some of us have is, since when is burning a flag or anything for that matter a form of speech?

Tired of excuses and perversion of English language. And I'm an immigrant and it irritates me...

Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump

If I happen to be somewhere with a relative sensitive to smoke due to copd, and some doofus decides that it is his/her right to burn the flag or anything for that matter, thereby forcing us to move away from our spot, then how is that a. "Speech" and b. Not a clear violation of my and my relative's right to be in a public place without the disturbance and smoke?

You see, I've said it before, your freedom to be free and includes my freedom to be free from you.

By granting the right to one and thereby removing the right from another you've just created oppression for the latter, nothing to do with speech. Everything to do with upside down perversion of words.

Well, so he's obviously an idiot, not worth getting excited about. But suggesting that he should be jailed or lose his citizenship is beyond the pale, i.e. even dumber yet. I'm afraid our common sense is in decline.
Do you believe a person can legally burn whatever they want on a public street or sidewalk as long as it's their own property they are burning? What about burning one's car, a pile of clothes or other items in protest?
I thought leftists were against pollution.

mojo84 wrote:Interesting to me how we got to the point that destruction of property by burning is considered "speech".
:iagree: 100%.

I thought it was just my ESL shortcoming, that I wasn't comprehending clearly :rules: . But, I'm not quite sure I understand, nor that I ever will, how an act of burning is equal to an act of speaking...and yes, I read opinions by legal scholars etc. how it's an act of dissent against the government...but it makes no sense to me at all.

I'm just simple I guess. When I speak then I speak. When I burn shrubs, I thought that was burning...or am I speaking then? :banghead:

Now I'm all confused.

I wonder where he got that thought...

parabelum, good catch.
Although I learned many decades ago in Boy Scouts that there is only one reason to burn a flag, I'm embarassed to say
that I did not know that section of the code. Thank you. :tiphat: :tiphat:
:txflag: :patriot:

Well, it was struck down in 1990's in United States v. Eichman case, but that's I believe where Trump got the idea.

Not that it hasn't floated around before :biggrinjester:

Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump

I am somewhat leaning towards it being illegal.

Burning the flag of this Nation for which so many died is not speech. Rather, it is an physical act to provoke and incite violence.

Freedom of expression is not same as freedom of speech, to me.
I support free speech fully, as disgusting as it may be.
Flag burning is an physical act, and again, it has nothing to do with speech, to me.

To burn the flag you need more then a filthy Prog mouth.

I know...most will disagree with me, and that's ok.
