Overpenetration scares me. If I need to be penetrating cover to hit the BG, I can probably be making my own retreat. I'm 100% hollow points. That is, if you can retreat - assuming you're not pinned down or blocked in. In that case, overpenetration is kind of the point of the ball ammo. Having somet...

Ammo Change-Up

Does any one else change up ammo in the middle of your magazine stack? When I was an LEO, I carried a 15+1 9mm and two extra clips. The top 8 rounds in my gun were HydraShok, and everything from there down was ball ammo. The extra clips were all ball ammo. My reasoning was this: In the vast majority...

"Defense to prosecution" is presented during trial. Basically you have a defense that the legislature says is valid, and therefore you don't necessarily have to convince the judge/jury that a "reasonable person" would have done whatever you did. It's spelled out, so it's automati...

"Defense to prosecution" is a funny animal. It appears in several laws and seems to be saying something like "don't do this, because if you do you'll be arrested and tried and you'll have to prove something to not get found guilty." In reality, no DA is going to prosecute a case ...

I think it's natural to be self-conscious about it when in reality 99% of the public is not looking at your waistband area and most of them wouldn't know what they were looking at even if they did. As an LEO, I carried for 5 years before the CHL law was passed and have carried since, and I have only...

Each department is different and has its own policies. From what I've seen, there are very few municipal departments (if any in the metro area) that carry .45 cal any more. Some county sheriff/constibles may still, and some small/outlying municipal departments may. Some departments will issue a gun ...

Their patches on the shoulders and their badges and car doors will have the word "Police". Otherwise it might say "Guard" or "Security". If you're talking about UT campuses (UT, UTA, UTD, etc.) the ones in blue shirts are peace officers and the white shirts are guards w...

I have one also, and it's a great little gun for summer carry. Very light - hardly noticeable when out walking the dog or whatever. I used a belly band the other day and checked the mirror - it had literally zero print no matter which way I turned. I have a pocket holster on order and haven't receiv...

I keep mine separate from my TX CHL so I have a backup in case I lose my wallet. Cheapest and easiest backup CHL I could find from the other states.
