Just OC'd in Wally World for about thirty minutes while doing some random shopping. Once again, no one said anything to me. It was 4am and there were employees everywhere restocking the shelves. Stopped and chatted with several.
No one cares about OC if you're not trying to make a scene.

Re: walmart asking for chl
I had a feeling that there was more to it. I've OC'd at a few different Wal-Marts without issue. It seems like most places are leaving us alone as long as we behave.FtwBill wrote:My nephew is a store manager at WM so I asked him about it. This article is leaving out ALOT of language. He said greeters and walmart cashiers will not ask anyone to see their CHL in the store. What he did say is that if someone in the store openly carrying display some sort of odd, unruly behavior they will alert the management who may approach and ask for the CHL, if they refuse and will not return the firearm to there car they are to diffuse the situation and leave the person and someone will call LEO.txglock21 wrote:The article states that if the door greeter or cashier sees someone open carrying they are to notify the "highest ranking employee" (the acting manager) to confirm the legal status.Unocat wrote:Since they are the property owner, I personally wouldn't have a problem with showing my ID... but it can't happen every 10 minutes with different employees. I would just ask for the manager and show it to them once.
I guess i think of it like if i was carrying some paid for merchandise around (drink, whatever) and they asked if I purchased it... I would show my receipt, less they think I stole it and call LE. This feels analogous to me...
For what its worth.

Re: walmart asking for chl
I'm completely okay with this. It's their rear on the hook if someone brings an unlicensed weapon in. I have no problem showing them that it's okay if I have my gun, in exchange for them allowing me to have it on their private property.
I've actually open carried at my local Wal-Mart a few times now without issue. Once was on a very busy Friday night. No one said anything to me, but I wouldn't have minded a positive interaction as a representative of our community.
Just be glad that they're not asking us to leave, or straight up calling the cops.
