E-mail I sent:
David,

I have recently read you article about your new NRA membership. Though many parts peaked my interest one part really stuck out in my mind. In the article, you say the following:

"Yes, my name is now associated with a commercial good that's responsible for the killing of at least eight children and teenagers every single day (a record of product efficacy, as far as young people go, that not even the tobacco industry can touch). "

Child safety is a great cause, and I would like to thank you for recognizing that! I am however left curious as to what your efforts are to prevent child drowning deaths in swimming pools? Statistically (I can provide these if your curiousity is peaked), swimming pools are 100 times more dangerous than a gun to a child.

I acknowledge that firearm ownership is an emotionally charged issue, but I do not feel that revoking gun rights is the great "need of the hour" as far as child safety is concerned. If this is a legitimate concern of yours, I would appreciate an appropriate attack against swimming pools as well. Honestly though, many times I see that the child safety issue is used as a strongman argument against gun ownership. Swimming pool ownership is not given a proportional share of blame, leading me to believe this is more of a political agenda than a legitamate concern for our youth.

Respectfully,

Nick XXXXXXX

At last, I can boast that I'm part of efforts to protect people's access to a product that the federal government says is responsible for more than 30,000 deaths each year, including murders, suicides and accidents.
PEOPLE are responsible for those 30k deaths. Firearms aren't sentient beings and cannot be held responsible for their use.
How many motor vehicles are responsible for human deaths?

I know, I'm preaching to the choir here. I just get so tired of hearing this nonsense.
How many kids are killed a year by swimming pool accidents? Lets get off the "kids" strongman.
