However, you can ship using our ground service and an FFL on either end, and a 5 lb box should only be around $5.00. Any it will still get there by end of next business day. Even with $10-$25 in FFL fees, that's still much cheaper than using UPS!

Sorry I can't do more right now. Wish I could help more, but at least we are clear here that you can ship firearms using LSO, and it will probably save you money. Try us out sometime, we are about half of the other carriers in TX, and parts of OK, LA, and NM and would very much appreciate your business!

Re: No More Shipping Firearms
The is what I got from upper level management. I will see what I can do.
We can accept firearms in unmarked packaging from licensed dealer to licensed dealer or licensed dealer to consumer or consumer to licensed dealer after setup by an LSO account executive and the shipper must comply with all laws. We can not under any circumstances accept consumer to consumer shipments.

Re: No More Shipping Firearms
Like I said in my previous post, I don't believe that is our policy..I am pretty sure we ship person to person....I will call some folks on that tomorrow. The document that that was quoted from appears to be from the state of Texas and not LSO.boomerang wrote:It's nice that manufacturers and dealers can use LSO but there's no exception for individual to individual which is what we were talking about.iflyabeech wrote:I am not sure where you gathered this information, but if in the document you posted on page 1,you were referring to the following statement, you neglected to view the exceptions! :)
Exceptions:
(1) Firearms (Shipper is responsible for compliance to local, state and federal laws). The
packaging must not be marked, labeled or otherwise identify as containing a firearm. Drop box
services are prohibited on shipments containing firearms.
a. Licensee to licensee
b. Licensee to consumer
c. Consumer to licensee
Even if it isn't our current policy, I may be able to have it changed to suit Federal and State laws, especially given the interest here!

Re: No More Shipping Firearms
I will call some folks tomorrow and get back to you. I am pretty sure we ship person to person, but let me check as it doesn't say so in that document. It does however say in compliance with state, federal and local laws. I really do not see us turning away legal business.seamusTX wrote:I did not notice the exceptions, and from what I can tell they were in that document since January 2008. I'm sorry about that.
Is it correct that Lone Star does not ship between non-licensees, even in-state?
- Jim
I deal with our HAZMAT and I do know that if you ship ammo, it must conform be in limited quantities and be shipped in accordance with Federal HAZMAT ORM-D consumer commodity regulations, and it must go via ground service, not air, due to these regs.
This thread has the basic gist of ammo shipping!

Re: No More Shipping Firearms
Jim, you might want to keep LSO in the discussion and check your research. I work for LSO and routinely carry firearms for shipment. Also easy on the namecalling! :) haha j/kseamusTX wrote:Everything that FedEx ships goes through Memphis, Tennessee, which means that it is technically in interstate commerce.
I don't know about UPS.
I do not like the way these issues are dealt with, but they have held up under court challenges for many years.
Lone Star Overnight is not part of this discussion, as they do not accept firearms for shipment. The ninnies.
