People carrying concealed weapons will not always be attacked by another human outside their home. It could be an animal or a pack of them. Consider the case of the late 76 year-old Lillian Stiles of Thorndale, Texas. She was riding her lawn mower on in late November 2005 when she was fatally attacked by a pack of dogs. She was found laying in her yard with bite marks all over her body.BrassMonkey wrote:So after September 1, Castle Doctrine can be excercised outside of our castle?
Milam County sheriff's deputies said she had been attacked by six pit bull-Rottweiler mixed-breed dogs owned by a man living less than 500 yards away. If you didn't know about this story, you can read it at the following URL:

I am not sure if the Castle Doctrine is relevant or not in the case of having to defend against animals other than humans outside the confines of your home, but I would hate to be targeted by PETA or some other special interest groups for saving my life against an animal attack. I just can't see a LEO arresting someone for protecting themself against a dog or wild animal attack of this magnitude but I have seen PETA go after people with cruelty to animal suits. They've even harassed bass fishermen at tournaments even though there is a law against that.
