He makes some good points about the police chiefs opposition gun legislation. But I don't understand why inject racism allegations into it. I don't know Rep. White. Just found out that he's black. But I am assuming that the writer probably asked some leading questions about whether or not him being Black may have some kind of impact. And when the writer heard something that he could use to attempt to link it to racism then he ran with it. So the writer implies that the rep was subtly accusing the Police Chiefs of being racist, when really it was the writer's goal all along to link the subject to racism. Why not just stick to the facts about gun control and crime, etc. which can actually help to bolster the argument instead of making some obscure accusations of racism....bblhd672 wrote:Good article at Breitbart Texas about HB1911.

So I'm assume that they would have been in favor of HB560??? yeah right.tx85 wrote:Tweet thread on LEO press conference this morning:

Houston PD Chief @ArtAcevedo says HB 1911 (sometimes called "constitutional carry") has "nothing to do w/ Constitution, w/ peoples' rights."
there are no words for this.Acevedo: "We're not just talking about HB 1911.. We know how [#txlege] works, and we're talking about any effort to amend any bill..."

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
I wander what the determination would be for those 30.06/30.07 signs that have the gunbuster picture on the 30.06/30.07 signs. I see those signs quite a bit. I would think that since the gunbuster picture is on the 30.06/30.07 sign that it only applies to the 30.06/30.07 trespassing law. Of course... I would assume that any facility banning licensed carry would also intend to ban unlicensed carry as well.locke_n_load wrote:I would bet most places that post 30.06/07 already have a gunbuster sign.ScottDLS wrote:If this goes through as worded, it would appear that a LTC holder could carry past 30.06 and 30.07 notice, because he would not be carrying "under the authority" of his license because that authority is not necessary to carry anymore. Unless the store ALSO posted some additional "notice" under 30.05. But if they did that you could still carry , because you HAD ON YOUR PERSON a LTC, even though you weren't carrying under the authority of it. If I'm wrong....then how would a cop with an LTC carry past a 30.06/7 sign?allisji wrote:at first glance it appears to be the same.G.A. I have not verified how accurate the filed posted by the OP is yet.
21 sections. No changes to 30.06/30.07. They still only apply to licensed individuals.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
Sounds like we're getting ahead of ourselves here.
We need to wait and see what the legislature publishes and whether or not it includes new language for 30.06 signage.
the version in the OP didn't mention any new language for signage and only went up to Section 21.
eta: the section 24 language posted by jmorris looks like it must have come from the original text before it was revised in committee.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
I think that there needs to be an audible voice/tone alert system requirement, just in case the signage isn't posted conspicuously enough.RSX11 wrote:You're showing a shocking insensitivity to those who are differently-abled by not also requiring that the signs be printed in Braille as well. Therefore the sign should also be printed in German French and Arabic with 1 inch minimum letters.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute
I was thinking the same thing. I would think that property owner's would want a way to ban unlicensed carry while allowing licensed carry.Liberty wrote:I sure hope that the 30.06 wording isn't a poison pill. If this is the wording the bill must be stopped.
CHL holders will big time losers with the now smaller easier signs. Any bill messing with the 30/06 signs was dangerous for us. The one sign does all makes it even more tempting for the gun banners. Is it too late to stop this bill? Is TSRA still supporting it?
Good bill gone bad!
Anti-gun groups would do the same thing that they did before Open Carry become effective. They will use fear and shame tactics to convince many many more businesses to post the 30.06/30.07 signs because the businesses need to ban UNLICENSED carry. Of course we know that it will impact people living in the big cities more than it will impact people living in smaller towns. It seems very unfortunate that the committee decided to apply 30.06/30.07 to unlicensed carry.
