Some very good information is contained in that link. It would be nice to see the data updated the information through 2014, but I'm sure that the trend has not changed too much since 2011.

More so than the demographics of the victims, I'd be interested to the percentage of perpetrators who would not have passed a federal background check to purchase a firearm from a dealer.

In my opinion highlighting the racial demographics does nothing to advance anyone's particular argument. Personally I feel that location has as much to do with it as race, and what it leads to is a chicken vs. the egg argument about poverty, crime, and race.

The goal should be to indicate that restrictions being placed to keep guns out of the hands of the criminally or mentally dangerous specifically coupled with a steady increase in the population of legally licensed concealed handgun holders is resulting in a decrease of violent crime involving the use of guns.

Also interesting that the assault weapons ban implementation or expiration doesn't seem to have made a noticeable impact on the trends.
