Somewhat true. DPS Austin does the FP check through TCIC, and forwards the FBI prints. They then assign the background to a Trooper in each county where you have lived/worked during the assigned timeframe. The Trooper in that county checks the records of the Criminal District and County Clerk.4. DPS in Austin does not do the background check. Troopers around the state do most of them and when they are too buys, an outside agency does it.
No outside agency is invloved at that level.
