What did Mark Twain famously say?...Lies...Damned lies...Statistics...

Just two initial thoughts on the article:

First, people with conceal carry permits are human beings and are fallible. Nobody denies that. There are bad doctors, lawyers, dentists, accountants, plumbers, etc. etc. etc. However, as the author of the article notes, the vast majority of conceal carry folks are decent, law-abiding citizens.

Secondly, the author notes that unarmed people are more likely to stop a mass-shooting than an armed person with a conceal carry permit. Well, think about that....unarmed people outnumber armed people by a gazillion, or whatever the appropriate statistic is so you would expect more unarmed people to stop a mass shooting. More people get to Phoenix by driving an automobile than by walking too...maybe that has something to do with the prevalence of automobiles.

I have never been a big fan of the "social sciences" as they attempt to sound all scientific with spongy and sketchy numbers. I highly recommend a nice little book written by a mathematician, "How to Lie With Statistics" by Darrell Huff.
