Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco
"Affirmative links" or other evidence make or break a case. Wonder why these cases were indicted to begin with if those were missing?...

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco
A few things come to mind which are pure speculation. Maybe the D.A. did not carefully screen these cases prior to indictment. Maybe law enforcement "pressured" the D.A. to pursue the cases. There is definitely a story or stories here---hopefully it will come out eventually.

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco
Something is not right here. Maybe the lawyers for those 13 defendants can shed more light on what is going on. My first gut reaction, which of course is just speculation, is that the D.A. decided not to try some of the "ham sandwiches" he got indictments for.Keith B wrote:13 more cases dismissed in the shooting.

Wonder how much those 13 defendants were out in lawyers' fees, time spent, and aggravation?

That is a huge can of worms. If you have plenty of time on your hands you can google all of this:MechAg94 wrote:Perhaps someone knows this answer: Does the prosecution have to turn over ALL evidence to the defense? How much can the prosecution decide to withhold? What are the typical consequences if evidence is withheld?

Re: Shooting at Twin Peaks in Waco
Sometimes prosecutors hold onto cases longer than they should. But sometimes guilty people go free. Our system is not perfect and it is always good to try to improve it but I far prefer it over what I see in North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.

What is a 1% Biker Club? My knowledge of biker gangs comes from watching those Peter Fonda movies :)
I did learn something about "bottom-rockers" here while back. Had no idea what those were either.

Appears to be "scorched earth" defense tactics. The article is dated September 1st...anybody know the current status of this case?MechAg94 wrote:Wow. What a mess. I realize some of these guys aren't angels, but justice should move better than that. And these are just the first couple of trials.JustSomeOldGuy wrote:The legal fiasco is still dragging on....
