A 1911 with the GI guide rod can be racked one handed without sights too. The full length guide rod was a solution for a problem that didn't exist. The first change I make to a new 1911 is to put a standard GI guide rod and recoil spring plug into it.JSThane wrote:Or you can switch to a Browning Hi Power, where you can take the sights completely off and still rack the gun one-handed!
