If you have any holster (IWB or OWB) that holds your gun as far above the belt line as you are showing in the pic then you'll have problems. See how little of the barrel is below the belt line? There's nothing to support the grip portion of the gun so, it's likely to flop around.
Charles' suggestion of a shoulder holster may be your best option.
Carrying that high above your belt line is going to be top heavy. You must remember these things are heavy and require a good belt to properly support them. As far as knowing whether the gun is IWB or OWB you are intimately connected to the gun and know where it is. If you are concerned about little ones fooling with your gun while you are carrying it a thumb break will set your mind at ease.
On body carry requires some clothing compromises you may need to look into some different clothes to accommodate your gun.
Have you considered an OWB at all? A pancake holster will hold the gun in the spot you are indicating. A supertuck once it sets to your body will do the same. You also need to consider a good sturdy belt and remember if you are carrying IWB you need pants at least one size bigger to accommodate the gun and holster.
